When "Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer" opens today, a Rockford native will be among those on the big screen.
Sharon Sachs, daughter of William and Corinne Sachs, plays "Rose" in the kids movie. She sent my fellow blogger Georgette Braun an email offering some info about herself, and she sent it my way, figuring it was perfect for the Movie Man Blog.
That's her above at the "Judy Moody" premiere (more photos), and here's what Sharon says about herself and her career:
"I went to St. Bernadette's grade school and Boylan Central Catholic High school class of 1980. I still hang out with those OTHER super talented kids the Rockford theatre community produced during the 70's and 80's. Back in the day I worked on shows at Clock Tower Dinner Theatre, Hickory Dickory Players, Starlight Theatre, Rock Valley College Theatre, Rockford College summer theatre, New American Theatre, Boylan Players, Camp Sunshine and Rockford Park District's summer touring show ROPADI Players. Back in the day the city offered us talented professionals, spirited mentors and many venue options to hone our craft. I attended Rock Valley College and then moved to Dekalb to study acting in the theatre department at NIU. Upon completion of my studies I relocated to Chicago where I have been acing on stage for 25 years including 10 seasons in "A Christmas Carol" at The Goodman Theatre. About 10 years ago I auditioned for a television show that shot in Los Angeles and got cast, the show didn't go but I sure did. I have been pursuing work in Los Angeles for the last 10 years, I call myself bicoastal, Lake Michigan and Pacific Ocean.
"I've always been passionate about performing for children, helping them to stay creative by encouraging them to read and pursue the arts. Having performed in dozens of Children's Theatre productions both in Rockford and Chicago, my favorite roles evolved from literature, "Winnie the Pooh", "Cat in the Hat", "Horton Hears a Who", "Charlotte's Web", so being a part "Judy Moody" fills me with joy. It's the opportunity for Kids to read the books and THEN see the film, I always loved that as a kid...books coming to life."
She adds that she's "aunt to Dale Sachs-Loomis, a recent 8th grade graduate of St. Bernadette's school, (who thinks this movie sounds kinda silly), and sister to Dr. Cynthia Sachs DDS, who gave me my hollywood smile! I also have a sister Sheila who lives in Chicago and two brothers, Ed and Mike Sachs who reside in Milwaukee, WI. We all grew up in Rockford and now cover the tristate area."
Sharon's resume also includes "Home Alone 3″ and the TV series "Dexter," "Weeds," "Boomtown" and "My Name is Earl."

Im no expert, but I believe you just made an excellent point. You certainly fully understand what youre speaking about, and I can truly get behind that. ten days in the valley
